Treasure Hunt and German Stockbrot over the campfire at The Hygge Farm

A Day of Laughter, Learning, and Cultural Exchange at Hygge Farm

Today was a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and cultural discovery at Hygge Farm! Together with a joyful group of Vietnamese children, we set out on a special mission to bake traditional German Stockbrot (stick bread) over an open fire, a simple yet meaningful way to share cultural traditions and make new friends.

Before we could start baking, a fun challenge awaited everyone. To collect all the ingredients, the children took part in an exciting, farm-wide treasure hunt, with five creative games spread across the whole farm. At each station, they completed a task that encouraged teamwork and brought a lot of fun. Guided by our dedicated international volunteers, the children practiced English naturally while learning about teamwork and communication.

Once all the ingredients were gathered, everyone came together to make the dough. After it was ready, children and parents gathered around the campfire. With the help of our volunteers, the children carefully wrapped their dough around prepared sticks and roasted their Stockbrot over the glowing fire, an experience that reminded us all of the joy of slowing down, working together and simple but good food.

Throughout the day, the children also had the chance to explore the farm on their own. They met and fed the cows, pigs, chickens, and goats. The joy of meeting new friends, playing with other children and learning alongside our volunteers made the day truly special.

At Hygge Farm, we truly believe that language learning and cultural exchange don’t just happen in classrooms, they flourish in moments like these, through play and the simple happiness of creating something together.

We hope you like it. If you want any changes tell us.

Survival Lessons for Children During Trekking

During trekking trips, children have the opportunity to learn valuable survival skills that help them build confidence and independence. Here are some important lessons:

  • Understanding the Environment: Children will learn to recognize plants, animals, and signs of nature around them. Knowing how to distinguish between edible and inedible plants is crucial.

  • Building Temporary Shelters: Kids will be guided on how to find and construct temporary shelters using natural materials, helping them understand safety in the wild.

  • Finding Water Sources: Learning how to identify clean water sources is a vital skill. Children will be taught how to filter and purify water to ensure it's safe for consumption.

  • Navigation Skills: Skills in map reading and compass use will help children develop their navigation abilities and find their way back.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Unexpected situations can arise in nature. Children will learn to stay calm and think creatively to find solutions to problems.

  • Collaboration and Leadership: Trekking is a group activity that helps children understand the importance of working together, sharing tasks, and supporting one another.
